Applicants can apply by presenting in person:
1. Firearms safety training certificate showing 8 hours of training and signed by a Boone County approved Instructor
2. A positive picture I.D. with proof of current address
3. A non-refundable fee

One Check made payable to MSHP Criminal Records Fund - $33.25
One Check or Cash to BCSD Sheriff’s Revolving Fund - $62.00

Q: How long will it take to get my CCW permit?
A: That can vary, depending on the time it takes to complete the background check. However, a certificate will be issued or denied within 45 calendar days from the date of application.
Q: How long is my concealed carry permit valid?
A: The concealed carry certificate is good for a period of three years from the date of issuance (New or Renewal).
Renewals
As long as all your information is current on your CCW Endorsement, you can file your renewal at Ashland Police Department.
Q: When can I start the renewal process?
A: Sixty days prior to the expiration date.
Q: What do I need to bring with me to file my renewal?
A: Your Driver's License or Non-Driver ID.
Q: Renewal Fees
A: One Check or Cash to BCSD Sheriff’s Revolving Fund - $50.00
Payment is due at time of application.
Q: Can I get the new certificate the same day?
A: No. The renewal is a seven-day process. After the seven days you will need to return to the agency where you applied for the new certificate to sign and date it; then you have seven days to complete the process at the Department of Revenue.
