A message from Mayor-elect Slinker regarding the process for filling the vacancy for Ward 3 on the Board of Aldermen:

"Greetings, I wanted to take a moment to thank all of you for your support of my candidacy for Mayor of Ashland, Missouri. My term will start on the evening of April 19th, 2022, during our regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Aldermen. With my transition from Alderman for Ward 3 to Mayor I will be leaving a vacancy on the Board that will need to be filled. I am fully committed to transparency in this process and as such I would like to take a different approach to filling this vacancy. If you reside within Ward 3 and are interested in serving your community and ward as an Alderman, please submit a one-page letter to myself and our City Administrator at dslinker@ashlandmo.us and kmichel@ashlandmo.us no later than April 29th, 2022. Your letter should highlight your qualifications and reasoning for wanting to serve our great community. Together, we will review these letters and conduct interviews ahead of the May 3rd, 2022, meeting of the Board of Alderman. I will ask the Board of Aldermen to consider my recommendation for appointment as part of our opening business on May 3rd so that we can fill my vacancy in conjunction with starting our new fiscal year. Keep in mind, this appointment would be through the end of the term in April, 2023 at which time my appointee would need to give consideration to placing their name on the ballot for formal election to their ward seat. This is a great opportunity to serve your community and get involved in the process. We look forward to hearing from you and working with you. Do not hesitate to reach out with any questions you may have."
